Walk around it

Chapter one. Same yard. Every side of the story.

The in-game yard

Tactics. Yard rules.

Swords and lances had a rough childhood here. Think Fire Emblem, raised behind the garages.

Law of the Yard

Swagger beats muscle. Muscle beats street. Street beats swagger.

  • A big guy can be bluffed.

    nunchucks, big mouth
  • No trick beats a crowbar.

    wrench, rolling pin
  • A brick doesn’t care how cool you are.

    fists, bricks

Tap a corner to see what they fight with.

Law on your side: +15 to hit, +1 damage.

Neighbours jump in. Stand shoulder to shoulder. Nobody stays one-on-one for long.

The babushkas undo a turn. Bad move? They unravel a stitch from your scarf. Time comes loose with it.

Build up your courage. Save it for a special. You’ll still have to face the neighbours tomorrow.

The Yard Catalogue

A few things from the yard. There’s plenty more in the garage.

No swaps. Someone’s already tried.

The bench sees everything

You haven’t reached the entrance. They already know why you’re here.

Tap a babushka. Don’t interrupt.

“We’re All Here”

One song for the whole yard. On the bench, in a fight, on the way home: the same tune wears different clothes.

One yard, one developer

STRELKA is made in New Zealand by Denis Fyrlov.

In August 1991 he was ten months old, just like the Denis in the pram. Any other resemblance is the babushkas’ business.

What can I play it on?

PC and Mac, on Steam. The television in the window doesn’t count.

When it’s done. The Steam page opens first.

Is it a Russian game?

No. Made in New Zealand. The town is made up. You’ll still recognise the yard.

How grown-up is it?

18+. Blood, fights, cigarettes and babushkas who say worse. No real swearing. Kolyan is trying.

What language is the game in?

Russian and English.
